Since 1989, the Village and Park District have partnered to create the Earth and Arbor Day Celebration. This event is held annually in April and includes a recycling center for residents, a sustainable vendor exhibition and volunteering opportunities. This page overviews the event and ways to get involved. More information is posted as the event gets closer each year.
The Earth and Arbor Day event is held each year on a Saturday morning in April. The dates and times are typically announced in late January.
Throughout the duration of the event, the Village and Northfield Township will host a recycling center. This center allows for residents to drop off their items for recycling (including electronics, paint and more). The hours of the center and items which will be accepted are announced in March each year. For more information on recycling in the community, see our "How Do I Recycle This?" guide.
As part of the celebration, a vendor exhibition is held at Village Green Park. This gives residents and visitors an opportunity to talk to and learn from exhibitors who will be on hand to present information on environmentally friendly products and ideas. In addition to the exhibition, food and children's activities will be available.
Interested in being a vendor? Applications are accepted year-round at this link.
Each year, teams of volunteers are needed to help clean up areas throughout Northbrook, cleaning up debris and windblown trash. Interested in volunteering? Use this form to let us know. Beginning March, a staff member will contact you to make arrangements.
