Project Description

This project involves replacing the existing concrete culvert (i.e. the structures that allow stormwater to flow from the Techny Drain underneath these roadways) at Elm Ridge Drive. This structure is showing signs of degradation and needs to be replaced. Construction on Elm Ridge will result in the closure of the street at the culvert’s location between Canterbury and Woodland Drives while this work is occurring. Residents will have access to their driveways throughout the duration of the project.

Current Project Updates

October 19, 2018 

Next week, crews will begin work on the Elm Ridge Drive culvert replacement project. This will require the closure of Elm Ridge Drive to through traffic between Canterbury and Woodland Drives. Staff anticipates this closure will begin on Tuesday, October 23, and continue through the end of the project in November.

Previous Project Updates

September 28, 2018  

Nicor’s contractor began relocating gas mains to resolve any conflicts with the Woodlawn Road and Elm Ridge Drive stormwater projects. Staff anticipates this will continue next week. Once these conflicts are relocated, work will begin on both projects.

August 10, 2018  

On Wednesday, August 8, the Village held a pre-construction meeting with representatives from the Village’s Police, Fire, and Public Works Departments as well as representatives from Commonwealth Edison, Nicor, and the Village’s contractor to discuss coordination for the upcoming construction. Staff will continue to work with the utility companies to mitigate any potential conflicts before beginning work. 

August 3, 2018 

This month, the Village will begin construction of three stormwater management projects: Woodlawn Road, Dehne Road and Glendale Avenue, and Elm Ridge Drive culvert replacement. On Thursday, August 2, the Village held an Open House for residents to share information on the scope of work and timelines for each project. Staff anticipates work will begin early to mid-August and be completed in November.

July 27, 2018 - Construction/Open House Announcement

Next month, the Village will begin the construction of three stormwater management projects: the Woodlawn Road Project, the Dehne Road and Glendale Avenue Project, and the Elm Ridge Drive culvert replacement. This week, the Village delivered letters to residents living near the construction areas notifying them of the project and inviting them to an Open House on Tuesday, August 2, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Village Hall. Staff anticipates work will begin early to mid-August and end in November 2018.
