Overview
The Industrial and Commercial Development Commission (ICDC) is comprised of eleven members. At least three members shall be residents of the Village that are owners, lessees or employees of industrial or commercial property in the Village. If possible, two members shall be each of the three industrial areas: the north central area, the Skokie corridor and south Shermer Road area. One member shall represent the regional shopping area; one member from the Central Business Area; and three members shall be at large - one of which shall be an officer of the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The ICDC acts in an advisory capacity to the Village President and Board of Trustees in maters that impact the Northbrook business community. The primary duties of the ICDC include:
- Making recommendations to the Board of Trustees on matters relating to the improvement of sound economic growth and business development
- Examining opportunities for fostering an attractive climate for business within the Village with respect to both existing and potential new business establishments
- Recommending additional steps and measures to promote economic growth by retaining businesses and attracting new commerce and industry
- Cooperating with the Plan Commission and Village Board of Trustees in efforts to realize appropriate goals and objectives relating to sound business practices, an increased tax base and better employment opportunities
