Over the past few years, sustainability has been one of the top priorities for the Village of Northbrook. Committed to addressing climate change on the local level, Northbrook’s draft Climate Action Plan (CAP) is currently open for public review and input. This document was created by the Climate Action Planning Team, led by Trustees Israel and Ross, and comprised of Village staff and community representatives.
The Team set an overarching mission to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 35% of the Village's baseline levels by 2030, in alignment with the standards set by the international Paris Climate Agreement. This will only be achievable through community-wide commitment to actions laid out in the draft CAP across eight sectors: Transportation, Buildings and Energy, Waste Management, Water and Wastewater, Local Food, Health and Safety, Greenspace, and Climate Economy.
We invite all community members to the CAP Public Open House on Wednesday, June 16, 4-7pm, to discuss the draft plan. This in-person event will occur in the Village Hall.
