Automated Water Meter Project

The Village of Northbrook is undertaking a project to replace the water meters within the Village’s water distribution system with new more accurate meters. The Village is undertaking this project for a number of reasons including:

  • To improve customer service by implementing a remotely read system that will allow customers more ready access to their usage information;
  • With that increased access to usage information, residents and businesses will be able to identify when they have a leak in their home or alter their usage to be more sustainable;
  • To reduce the amount of unreported water usage the Village must report on as part of its water allocation.

WATER SMART WALKTHROUGH 


Starting October 1, 2025, residents can track usage and receive leak alerts through the new WaterSmart portal. These upgrades will help customers manage water use and improve system efficiency. Watch the video for an overview and click here to register for WaterSmart.
