Information for Real Estate Agents
Thank you for your interest in showing a home in Northbrook! Our community has wonderful amenities, excellent schools and great local services to meet the needs of our diverse and dynamic population. To help you navigate our processes and procedures, we have built this page to answer some common questions we get from real estate professionals.
Real Estate Transfer Taxes
The Village does not levy a real estate transfer tax or issue transfer stamps.
Information on Zoning, School Districts & Other Local Services
Use our Know Your Neighborhood Tool to find out the zoning of the property you are researching (only for those properties located in the Village) as well as information on local services such as school districts. You can also use the map gallery to learn more about local amenities such as bike routes and other service information such as refuse pickup days.
Liens & Other Debts
Real estate agents and interested buyers can use Cook County’s Property Tax Portal to search for any liens or other debts on their property (you can access the same information by clicking the PIN information in the Know Your Neighborhood Tool). Please note that Cook County’s records may not be complete and other liens or other debts may exist.
For More Information on a Property
For information on any other outstanding debts, building permits or other information, please submit a FOIA request using the instructions found on the Freedom of Information and Open Records page.
Transferring a Property
When completing a sale, real estate agents should be sure that the sellers close any existing utility accounts and schedule any final meter reads as necessary.
