Board & Commission Membership

Residents are encouraged to participate in the Village of Northbrook. By serving on a Village advisory Board or Commission, you can participate in planning the future of Northbrook! Many of these commissions and boards make recommendations that will greatly affect life in Northbrook. It is important that prospective members of our commissions and boards clearly understand the functions and responsibilities of membership before actively seeking appointment. A great deal of personal satisfaction, knowledge, and experience may be gained through service to your community.

Attendance & Compensation

Commissioners are expected to diligently attend and participate in all meetings of the commission. All commissioners serve without compensation, on a volunteer basis. Click here to view the Village's current commission meetings calendar.

Application ProcessJoin a Commission

Anyone interested in applying for an appointment to a commission or advisory board can send a completed commission application and letter of interest to the Village Clerk by email or by mail to:

Village President
Northbrook Village Hall
1225 Cedar Lane
Northbrook, IL 60062

Send in your application and letter of interest along with a resume or other information you feel would be helpful to the Village President in the selection process.

If the advisory board or commission you apply for has no openings, your application will remain on-file for future consideration. Whenever an unscheduled vacancy occurs (due to resignation or termination), a notice will be posted at Village Hall indicating that there is an opening.
