Complied by the Village of Northbrook's Disability Inclusion Commission, below are various resources for individuals and families in Northbrook. The Village does not endorse any of the below organizations and offers the below resources for informational purposes only. Questions regarding the services provided should be directed to the organization listed.
Educational Resources
- TrueNorth Educational Cooperative 804 (Formerly NSSED)
- This special education cooperative provides programs, services, coaching, and consultation for students. Northbrook school districts 225, 27, 28, and 30 are all members of TrueNorth.

- Chicago Lighthouse Huber Vision Rehabilitation Center
- This center offers comprehensive vision care services to patients and clients in the north and northwest suburbs and offers optometry, psychological counseling and occupational therapy services; an extensive display of adaptive technology devices to aid in reading; and an array of enrichment programs for all ages including classes and events specifically for children and seniors.

- Cove School
- The Cove School provides an individualized education and life strategies for children with complex learning disabilities and related disorders.

- Premise Alert Program
- The Illinois Premise Alert Program is a useful tool for both first responders and dispatch centers to be aware of special information or instructions regarding persons with special needs or disabilities that require immediate attention when calls for service are requested to a location. Note entry is considered confidential as cited in Section 25 of Public Act 096-0788

Parking/Transportation
- RTA Discounted Fare Program --
- Northfield Township Dial-a-Ride
- Any Northfield Township resident with a permanent disability (aged 18+) and income-eligible seniors (65+) may apply for the program. Qualified residents receive an ID card, 20 discounted taxi coupons, and the contact information for participating taxi companies. Applicants should be prepared to provide the completed application, proof of residency, income, and disability (if applicable).

- Taxi Program
- The Village’s subsidized taxi program offers discounted rides to seniors aged 55 years or older and residents with disabilities. Must be a resident of incorporated Northbrook to qualify. Qualifying residents receive 16 ride subsidies per month. Ride subsidies will not roll over month-to-month.

- CATCH is an organization of engaged and dedicated parents that provides support and educational programs for elementary, junior high, and high school students and families.

- Clearbrook serves people over a range of ages and disabilities from children diagnosed with developmental delays at birth to the unique needs of seniors with disabilities and all ages in between.

- TotalLink provides programs and services that teach critical life skills to help prepare young adults with special needs. TotalLink works with individuals from across a broad spectrum and a wide range of person-centered services that promote employment, independence, and strong social connections in the community.

- Youth Services offers a variety of mental health focuses services for children and adolescents the north suburbs. Services include early intervention, prevention, education, support, sexual and gender identity support, health education, and crisis response.
